Summer Series Race #2 – Recap by Rapparee

Apologies to all for the late submission of race reporting for July 5th. Your designated reporter has been in ME since then and between navigating for days in fog so thick that one mark didn't actually appear until we were .09 NM from it, and, fitfully trying to get reports from participants, I haven't been a good reporter.
As best I can report, Wednesday. July 5th was a pleasant evening with wind from the ESE at 7-12mph. Ebbing current was a big factor as low tide was at 8:15. The marks were 19, 23, 18, and 19. In B fleet many boats chose to start at the committee boat and with current being a factor there were a few jovial remarks about, room, heading up, all the usual camaraderie. Timmy, avoided the mess by again doing a port tack start at the pin but didn't repeat their 1st place finish of the previous week. Static started near the pin and was first to the windward mark but was passed by JEF and Little Wing going to 23. In the end,  Melody pulled a typical rabbit out of the hat finishing first, followed by Static and Impromptu.
A class,  again had the most number of entries at 12 with Magpie taking line honors followed by Ladylove, Echo, Wild Ride and Black Seal.
In C Class, Sean Gallagher and Ed Quirk again confirmed their almost perpetual hold on 1st place with Falcon, with Jim Gustafson in Gusty and the Mannings in Lassair following.
One of the more interesting events of the night and maybe the season was when Caenn Saille overestimated the room rounding a mark and impaled the transom of Impromptu,  breaking off their bowsprit. The crew salvaged the sprit and proudly carried their jousting stick back to the Hull YC on the launch.
